On Saturday, November 11th, we welcomed Master Yanagiya Sanza to the auditorium of Kobe Yamate Girls' Junior and Senior High School to hold a solo performance as the 9rd KUISs Kobe Yamate Rakugo Association.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Hamana Yamate Gakuin School Corporation, counting from the opening of Yamate Gakuin. Hoping for the sustainable development of Kobe and our school, we have planned a rakugo performance centered around Master Sansan's "XNUMXth Year."

Aobaasan Katsura, an alumnus of our university who is also garnering attention as a handsome storyteller, helped create a good atmosphere in the venue with his "Secret Book," and the audience was instantly enthralled by Master Sansan's story about a foolish thief, "Shimikomi."

After the intermission, it was finally time for Master Sansan to perform "The Hundred Years." As the story progressed, everyone was captivated by the master's skillful storytelling, and everyone laughed, surprised, and thrilled as if they were in the same scene as the Edo period characters. Many also praised the master for his amazing response to the bell that rang in the middle of the story. The Kobe Junior and Senior High School Auditorium, popular as an example of modern Kobe architecture, added a touch of elegance to this excellent performance of classical rakugo.

The punch line of "It's been a hundred years since we last met here" drew big applause and smiles from the audience, making it a fun Rakugo event in honor of the 100th anniversary. Thank you very much to Master Sansan and Aoba-san for their passionate performances, the shamisen and percussionists, and the audience who participated in the Rakugo event.
