On December 2024, 12, the Western Japan Tournament of "Dorokatsu," a drone competition for children organized by the Dorokatsu Executive Committee (co-hosted by our university), came to a successful close.

The purpose of this competition is to cultivate talent that can adapt to the 21st century IT society and global society through STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in children, such as programming and drone technology.

The competition consisted of two categories: the "Programming Skills Contest," in which elementary school students worked in teams to create a program to fly a drone automatically in 60 seconds and competed for accuracy, and the "Piloting Skills Contest," in which they actually flew the drone along a designated course. The venue was bustling with energy from start to finish, and it was a day filled with smiles.
In addition, there were programming classes and workshops run by faculty and students from the university's Department of Sociology, as well as a drone experience corner, which stimulated visitors' curiosity and allowed them to experience the fun of STEM education.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported us in making this tournament possible.
