Every year, we hold service learning events in conjunction with Cybersecurity Month, with the theme of "creating a society where people can use the Internet safely and securely."

The Internet is used by people of all ages, but behind its convenience lies the danger that lurks. The service learning is an experiential learning program, and as part of preparatory learning, students received a lecture from a Hyogo Prefectural Police Department official at the Kobe Yamate Campus about the current state of cybercrime in the Hyogo Prefectural Police Department's jurisdiction, which oversees Shinkaichi Kirakukan and Aeon Center Kobe Minami, as well as the latest criminal methods, as well as information on specialized fraud and shady part-time jobs that university students are prone to falling into.In addition, students worked together with officials from the Cyber ​​Planning Division of the Hyogo Prefectural Police Cybersecurity and Investigation Advanced Center to develop a scenario, and the students made their own props to prepare for the event.

After reading the script, practicing in a virtual classroom, and repeatedly checking their movements, and receiving advice from members of the Cyber ​​Planning Department, they performed a crime prevention skit on the stage at Shinkaichi Kirakukan and on a special stage in a shopping mall, as a way to directly educate local residents through words and movements.

On the 9th, at the crime prevention rakugo event, as an opening act for a rakugo performance by two professional rakugo performers, the students were able to perform a crime prevention skit that they had created themselves to an audience of mostly elderly people, following a lecture by a member of the Hyogo Police Department's Public Safety Division. At Kirakukan, the audience seats are close to the stage, so the students were able to speak directly to the audience, who responded to their lines, creating a valuable experience of unity and warmth.

On the 11th, an event called "Police Festa" was held at a large shopping mall. The performance took place on a stage set up on the first floor of an open-air building called Minato Court. Each performer took turns holding the microphone so that the audience could hear the lines clearly. Although they were a little hesitant as it was a last-minute performance, they were able to enlighten the people who had gathered.

I think that we were able to have direct conversations and interactions with local residents that we would not have been able to experience through lectures or seminars on campus.

Unlike other universities, our university is able to have direct exchanges with police headquarters and each police station, and we would like to continue to explore ways to develop programs that take advantage of this strength.
