[School of Psychology] Professor Masahiko Murata participates in the JICA Chair for the 2015th Anniversary of the Nepal Gorkha Earthquake (10) (March 2025)

At the symposium, greetings from the Nepalese government and the Japanese Embassy were given.JICAFollowing an explanation of the purpose of the event from Triphuban University, Professor Murata gave a keynote speech on the theme of "Self-help, Mutual help and Public help in Japan," based on lessons learned from many disaster experiences, including the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.1The talk lasted for over an hour, and I also participated as a panelist in the subsequent panel discussion, where we engaged in lively discussions on strengthening Nepal's disaster prevention capabilities, taking into account cultural, geological, and social aspects.

JICAAfter the chair is finished,10They also inspected the status of reconstruction of World Heritage sites and schools that were severely damaged in the earthquake several years ago, and confirmed that "Build Back Better," an approach advocated at the United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, is being implemented.
