In the "English Teaching Materials Complete Guide 2025" (Shinyusha), in the "English Strongest Teaching Materials Ranking!" speaking section, Professor Masahiko Yokoyama of the Faculty of Global Studies at our university ranked first for intermediate to advanced learners, and "Hanon in English: Beginner" ranked second for beginners. This means that the series has topped the list for three consecutive years.

This ranking is based on the results of surveys of English education experts, English learners, and English influencers on social media. Professor Yokoyama's "Hanon in English" series has received extremely high praise as a groundbreaking teaching material that dramatically improves English speaking ability, including winning the Grand Prize in the Book category of the English Coaching Awards 2023.

At Kansai International University, under the guidance of Professor Masahiko Yokoyama, we offer a full range of "Basic English" courses, which are compulsory for first and second year students, to provide strong support for improving students' English skills. Why not hone your practical English skills at our university in parallel with your studies in your field of expertise?

Comment from Professor Masahiko Yokoyama
Since the publication of "English Hanon/Beginner" in April 2021, I am truly happy and grateful that it has been selected as the number one book in the speaking category of the "English Strongest Teaching Material Ranking" for three consecutive years, among many famous bestsellers and other popular books that have been published one after another. At our university, the curriculum for basic English education will be completely renewed from 4, and all Japanese students will take the on-demand class "Logic of English" in their first and second years. I will be lecturing on "Logical Speaking for Global Communication," which university students should acquire as part of their "education," using the methods established in the "Hanon" series. Please look forward to the long-awaited new curriculum that will begin in 3.
