4Month12On Saturday, the 1st, the "Kobe Walker" was held as part of the "Freshman Week" welcoming event for new students. The Kobe Walker is a walk around the city of Kobe with President Atsushi Hamana and new students.20This is a popular program now in its th year.35Senior student volunteers12name and staff15Total number of names62name participated.
JRStarting from Nada Station, the first stop was the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, where students were able to experience the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake through videos and exhibits, giving them an opportunity to think again about safety and security.
We traveled by bus and visited the "Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Kobe", "Kobe Muslim Mosque", "Ikuta Forest and Ikuta Shrine", and then went to the "Former Foreign Settlement38The participants participated in a stamp rally, visiting the checkpoints at the following locations: "Nankinmachi Nishianmon Gate," "Ichiro's Earthquake Memorial Plaque under Kobe Port Tower," and "Meriken Theater Monument." After reaching the goal,BE KOBEWe took a commemorative photo in front of the monument and then finished the event with a "ippon-jime" (a traditional Japanese closing ceremony) at Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park.

・I realized how devastating the damage was from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and how important it is to think about how we should live in harmony with nature and to be prepared.
・The talk by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea was very interesting.

・This was my first time at Ikuta Shrine. I would like to come back for the first shrine visit of the year.
・I think it was a good experience to be able to visit various places in Kobe.

Through Kobe Walker, the freshmen and upperclassmen were also able to deepen their interactions.
