[Faculty of Global Studies] The Department of Global Studies held the Kobe Walker with President Hamana to experience the diversity of Kobe

The Department of Global Studies, which started this year, is facing social changes that are leading to diversification at various levels.Diversity, Equity & InclusionThis department will equip you with the ability to create new value from the perspective of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In a recent class, students conducted a fieldwork project called the Global Studies Department's version of "Kobe Walker," based on a theme given by the president, to discover connections between the diversifying Kobe and the world.

1The first-year students split into two teams for each seminar: one to "find places that Kobe's diverse foreign community can turn to when they are in trouble" and one to "introduce the city's diverse gourmet spots to foreigners visiting the city." They went on to discover the various "diversities" and "coexistence" of Kobe.

Each group was made up of Japanese people and international students from various countries, and as a learning community, they seemed to enjoy building global relationships by teaching each other things they didn't know as they walked.

The president also walked with the students and told them about the hidden charms of Kobe, and some students were lucky to learn information that only those in the know knew about.

Finally, Kobe in Sannomiya Center Streetco-creationThe teams gathered at the Center to share their findings, and the students who gave the best presentations were given a loaf of French bread from a famous Kobe bakery by the president.

Learning in the Global Studies Department does not just take place in the classroom; we place emphasis on experiential learning, where students go out into the world and deepen their knowledge.

High school students are also encouraged to come and experience learning in the Global Studies Department at our university!
