9Month28On Sunday, the 20th, Miki City's "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Drill" and "Disaster Prevention Festival" were held at Mikiyama General Park, and members of our university, mainly students enrolled in the Co-op Program and service learning course "Regional Disaster Prevention and Mutual Aid," participated.
Miki City holds a Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training and Disaster Prevention Festival every year with the aim of contributing to creating a safe city free from disasters by raising fire and disaster prevention awareness and improving disaster prevention techniques.
Our university has a campus in Miki City and has safety management education as one of its pillars of learning. Students who participated in the Miki Fire Department's Co-op Program took part in the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training," while students taking the service learning course "Regional Disaster Prevention and Mutual Aid" participated in the "Disaster Prevention Festival."
Reiwa7This year's "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training" was conducted under the assumption that a large-scale earthquake would occur with its epicenter in the Yamazaki Fault Zone, causing severe damage within Miki City. Students played the role of people in need of rescue and participated in transportation training and triage training by doctors.
At the Disaster Prevention Festival, we participated as lecturers at the Miki Fire Department's cardiac resuscitation booth, and exhibited booths designed to raise interest, such as "Protect your baby in an evacuation shelter! Easy-to-make simple beds," with the aim of conveying knowledge that will be useful in the event of a disaster.
Thanks to the good weather, both the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training" and the "Disaster Prevention Festival" were well attended, and it was a valuable experience for the students who participated in the event to put into practice what they had learned at university outside of school. We hope that the realizations they gained from participating in this event will be useful in their future studies at university.
