Professor Kitabatake Kasumi, Professor Emeritus and third president of our university, passed away on October 28th.
After holding important positions such as Washington Bureau Chief and editorial writer for the Mainichi Shimbun Tokyo headquarters, as well as being involved in the launch of Newsweek Japan, he served as a professor in the School of Business Administration at our university from its founding in 1998, and as vice president (2002-2003), before serving as the university's third president from 2003 to 2005, and as chairman of the board of trustees of the Hamana Gakuin Educational Institution (renamed Hamana Yamate Gakuin Educational Institution in 2020) from 2004 to 2005. He was a president worthy of the university's academic spirit of "loving as an institution" with a deep international perspective and an unwavering consideration for others.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences.
