[Volunteer] I participated as a volunteer at the Hanakuma Mochitsuki Festival

1Month25On Sunday, our university participated in the rice cake pounding event hosted by the Hanakuma Community Association.2Students participated as volunteers.

On the day, they worked with local residents to pound and roll the rice cakes, and once the rice cake pounding competition began, they took on a variety of roles, such as running the shuttlecock experience booth, selling tea and juice, and supporting the children's rice cake pounding experience. Many visitors came to the venue, Hanakuma Park, and Abekawa Mochi and Zenzai were quickly sold out. The event was such a success that it finished earlier than scheduled.

The students who participated as volunteers actively participated while receiving guidance from local residents, and contributed to making the venue more lively.

From the students who participated

"It was a very enjoyable volunteer experience, and I would like to continue participating in this program in the future."

"Even though I live in the area, I had no idea such an event existed. It was a great experience to hear various stories from local people."

Through this volunteer activity, the students realized the importance of intergenerational communication with local people and the importance of connections with the community.
