2026Years1Month31On the 1st, the "Reiwa" event was held at the Miki City Cultural Hall.7The 2019 Miki City Voluntary Disaster Prevention Organization Development Training Seminar was held, and Associate Professor Ayako Tanaka of the Faculty of Business Administration from Kansai International University and3Mr. Kosuke Iwasaki, a second-year student, took the stage for the panel discussion.300Over 10,000 citizens attended the event, and the venue was filled with a strong interest and enthusiasm in disaster prevention.
The theme of this year's workshop was "Learning from Young People's Volunteer Disaster Prevention Activities," focusing on the participation of the younger generation in disaster prevention and the activities of new leaders supporting the local community.
Associate Professor Tanaka acted as facilitator for the panel discussion, deepening the discussion by drawing the interest of the participants. By asking questions based on his past research and experience in regional collaboration, the audience shared the perspective of "how young people and the community can work together."
As a panelist, Iwasaki shared her honest thoughts about what she learned and felt while volunteering, as well as the challenges and questions she faced during her time there. Her comments drew a strong response from the audience, with many nodding in agreement.
Kansai International University has been training disaster prevention specialists and engaging in practical efforts for local disaster prevention. As a university open to the community, participating in this training session was an opportunity to further strengthen collaboration towards disaster-resilient urban development. Our university will continue to work with the local community to develop human resources who can contribute to society.
