The University Exchange Project at Kansai University of International Studies has been a golden opportunity for me to experience cultural richness and cross- border learning. Spanning 11 remarkable days, from March 1st to March 11th, 2024, I navigated through a journey of encounters with students from various parts of the world, delving into the essence of hotel management and the beauty of Japanese culture. Behind the curtains of this experience, numerous reflections flowed through my mind, marking a journey that was both constructive and meaningful.
I was deeply impressed by the presentation from local business operators, offering detailed insights into Awaji Island. Additionally, the opportunity to try various activities in Sakoshi City, from visiting temples to witnessing salt production, Japanese-style lunches, and participating in beach clean-ups, left unforgettable impressions. But what stood out the most was the experience. I had the pleasure of tasting matcha salt, a new innovation for me that combines the flavours of matcha and salt. The delicious taste made me reconsider my usual consumption of matcha.
From the very first day of the program, I was treated to various fascinating experiences. Information about intriguing places in Japan, presentations by experts, and discussions with students from different countries added excitement to the program. Not to forget the abundance of information I received about tourist destinations on Awaji Island, sparking my curiosity to visit.
This journey has broadened my perspective on the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in enriching the learning experience. I am confident that the insights gained from this exchange project have the potential to bring about positive changes in our respective communities. By applying the principles of hotel management, disaster prevention, and cultural diplomacy, we can become agents of change in building more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable societies. Sustainable partnerships with academics, industries, and governments can further strengthen the impact of our collaborative initiatives, inspiring future generations of global leaders.
Later, when we had the freedom to explore Japanese culture firsthand, my friend and I decided to visit Osaka Castle. Witnessing its beauty and uniqueness was truly awe-inspiring. The bustling atmosphere, filled with tourists from all over the world, made our experience even more memorable.I am grateful to have been a part of this program, as it has not only provided me with new knowledge but also given me valuable new friends.
In conclusion, the University Exchange Project at Kansai University of International Studies has been a paradigm shifting journey, highlighting the power of cross-cultural exchange, continuous learning, and collective action. As we bid farewell to Japan, we carry with us not only beautiful memories but also a commitment to continue shaping a world that is more connected, compassionate, and prosperous.
