The program did not disappoint. I found myself challenged outside of my comfort zone by working in a field that was new to me. It was rewarding to work hard in a short amount of time with a great multi-cultural team, together building a new pitch idea on something we were passionate about to present in the final conference, and then winning the faculty choice award for best pitch. I still managed to bring in a human rights element into our groups pitch idea, which made me feel accomplished in a sense.

My love for travelling flourished with international travel opportunities through Western Sydney University (WSU). Thailand, Indonesia and Nepal were all integral to my journey at Uni. I've always appreciated a trip through a Uni program because there's always more deeply valuable experiences to be had due to unique interaction with the local landscape, people, sites, and of course, food. Keeping up with the Asia theme for overseas travel, I decided, on a whim, and with a friend's urging who did the program in March, to apply for the Global Venture Makers Program in Japan for July.

I made close friendships with international and Japanese students, which made 'goodbyes' very hard but 'see you next time' not much so. It was a truly unique experience that left its mark on me in an impactful way. Japan is a beautiful place that exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to the day that I can visit again.
