[Faculty of Psychology] Recommendation for the Center Program (Measures for Psychological Public Servants)

I think that there are many students who would like to get a job where they can make use of their knowledge if they go to the trouble of studying psychology at university.I would like to recommend civil servants as a candidate for employment for such people. There are several types of psychological civil servants. For local civil servants, child psychologists (psychological judges) recruited by each prefecture, etc., for national civil servants, assistant investigators of family courts and specialized officials of the Ministry of Justice. (Legal instructors, correctional psychology specialists, etc.).If you pass these civil service exams, you can receive specialized training after being hired, and you can work as a psychologist.

However, becoming a civil servant is not so easy.Although it depends on the type of civil servant, there are a wide range of general knowledge exams, essay exams on psychology, multiple interviews, etc., which are set as recruitment exams. I think it's hard to do your best alone.

Therefore, at our university, in cooperation with the "Qualification School TAC" as a countermeasure for the general education exam for civil servants, "Civil servant training course” is being held. However, with that alone, it is difficult to prepare for specialized psychological exams and essay exams. Therefore, as a measure for specialized subjectscenter program(Psychological measures for civil servants) is offered free of charge.

Following this program, Mr. Yamamoto passed the Ministry of Justice exam last year and was hired as a legal instructor.

“I thought it would be better to keep in mind the basics of how to write a report within a year or two. I was not good at writing, so I practiced a lot in the center program. Even if I didn't understand the specialized problems (psychology, pedagogy, etc.) at first, I was able to solve them by solving them, reading the explanations, and memorizing them little by little."

As the saying goes, “Continuity is power. If you want to become a civil servant in the field of psychology, let's do our best together (photo shows students taking the center program).
