1. Graduation Accreditation Policy (Diploma Policy)

The Department of Nursing awards a bachelor's degree in nursing to those who have acquired 126 credits, fulfilled the prerequisites, and met the following requirements. These standards require students to have the ability to practice human care based on scientific thinking, by comprehensively utilizing the six abilities and qualities of our educational goals, which are based on the educational mission of the Hamana Yamate Gakuin School Corporation (Communication, Consideration, Commitment), and are based on specialized knowledge, skills, and attitude in nursing, as well as a global perspective.

2.Curriculum Policy (Curriculum Policy)

In the Department of Nursing, we systematically organize the curriculum over the four years, devise innovative teaching methods, and evaluate progress so that students can acquire the knowledge and skills set out in the "Diploma Policy for Graduation Certification."

1) Education content

The curriculum of the Department of Nursing consists of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects, and is organized so that students can learn step by step from the basics to application. This aims to cultivate nursing professionals who can practice human care based on scientific thinking.

Systematic organization

All courses are numbered to clarify the content and difficulty level. Course priorities are presented to support planned learning.

Practical learning

In addition to classroom learning, students will integrate theory and practice through basic nursing training, area-specific training, integrated nursing training, etc. In addition, students majoring in global nursing will take part in overseas training to develop intercultural skills.

(1) Basic Education Subjects
To form a foundation for your studies at university and your life after graduation, you will study the following:
・Communication subjects
Students will learn languages ​​(English and second foreign languages), ICT skills, leadership, etc., and develop communication skills for a global society.
・Consideration subjects
With a focus on "human studies" and "SDGs and sustainability," students will consider social issues from a scientific perspective. They will also acquire knowledge and skills in data science.
・Commitment subjects
Through experiential learning abroad (global studies), students will broaden their perspective on multicultural coexistence and develop the ability to respond to social issues.

(2) Specialized Educational Subjects
In specialized education subjects, students learn the basics of knowledge and skills required in nursing.
You will gradually acquire the knowledge and skills required for nursing.
・1st year
Students will study medicine, sociology, and psychology to understand people from both the physical and mental perspectives. They will also acquire basic nursing knowledge and skills through lectures, exercises, and practical training in basic nursing.
・2st year
Lectures and seminars are held in various areas of nursing, and students can choose from the following majors according to their wishes and aptitude:
(A) Nursing major
You will learn human care based on scientific thinking.
(a) Global Nursing Major
You will learn the basics of nursing practice for patients with different cultural backgrounds.
・3st year
Through practical training in each field, students will deepen their learning so that they can put the knowledge they learned at university into practice in the field. In the Global Studies major, students will learn the impact of different cultural backgrounds on nursing through overseas training.
・4st year
Through graduation research and integrated nursing training, students will integrate and synthesize the contents of their specialized education. In the Global Studies major, students will strengthen their intercultural skills by reviewing and reporting on their overseas training.
・Acquisition of qualifications and specialization
In the third year, students in the midwifery and public health nurse courses are selected based on their wishes and aptitude, and they complete the subjects necessary to qualify to take the national examination.

2) Teaching methods

(1) Introduction of active learning
・We utilize group work and discussion to provide an environment where students can learn independently and proactively.
・We will develop problem-finding and problem-solving skills through area-specific training, integrated training, and global studies. We will utilize practical experience in the next learning.

(2) Feedback and reflection
- Multiple evaluations will be conducted during and at the end of the semester, and answer sheets and reports will be returned to clarify learning objectives.
- Students will use their learning portfolios to conduct self-evaluations and reflections, and deepen their understanding through interviews with their advisory professors.

(3) Education using AI and ICT
- Use generative AI in your classes to expand knowledge and ideas, and develop the ability to judge credibility and feasibility.
・We will use the LMS to support preparation and review, quizzes, report submission, and the creation of learning portfolios. Classes will be conducted face-to-face, online, or a combination of both.

(4) Planned study
・We provide a study flow chart to help students create a four-year study plan with an eye toward their future careers after graduation. We will continually check the progress of the plan and make adjustments as necessary to help students achieve their goals.

(5) National Examination Preparation
・You will gradually learn the specialized knowledge required to qualify to take the national examination starting from your first year.
- We will promote self-study using e-learning and monitor the results of external tests, set aside time for mock exams and preparation, and progress with learning in a planned manner.

3) Educational evaluation

(1) Formative and summative evaluation
・In each subject, learning outcomes will be assessed through tests, reports and presentations.
-Formative assessments will be conducted throughout the semester to gauge students' understanding and provide supplementary lessons and feedback.
A comprehensive evaluation will be conducted at the end of the semester and grades will be assessed in a multifaceted and comprehensive manner by combining these assessments.

(2) Confirmation of achievement level through KUISs learning benchmarks
- Every six months, students will conduct a self-evaluation to see how well they have achieved the abilities and qualities set out in the diploma policy.
・Students will meet with faculty members to check their progress and set their next learning goals.

(3) Examination to confirm achievement at the end of the second year
At the end of the second year, a completion test will be administered to assess whether students have acquired the basic skills required for taking the graduation research course.
Those who fail will be required to retake the test and be expected to pass it.

(4) Comprehensive evaluation based on integrated nursing training and graduation research
- The results of four years of learning will be comprehensively evaluated through integrated nursing training and a compulsory graduation research course on a topic related to nursing.

-Evaluation will be conducted by multiple faculty members using a common evaluation index (rubric).

3. Policy regarding acceptance of new students (admission policy)

- Have acquired basic language skills in Japanese (modern Japanese language, language culture) and English (equivalent to EIKEN Grade 3).
- Have acquired basic knowledge of science (basics of biology or chemistry) and mathematics (Mathematics I and Mathematics A) that are the foundation for studying nursing.

(2) Thinking ability, judgment ability, and expressive ability
・Be able to think logically about familiar issues related to medicine and nursing, based on knowledge and information, and explain the results.
