Philippine Community Engagement: Dance and Cultural Exchange
Students from the Faculty of International Communication recently participated in rehearsals for both a Philippine Folk Dance and a Modern Dance performance in preparation for a Christmas Party hosted by Masayang Tahanan, a Philippine Community Group in Kobe.
Established in 2015 by the NGO WORKMATE, Masayang Tahanan offers various programs to support Filipino families in Japan. The group became independent in 2020 and continues to play a significant role in supporting the Filipino community's integration into Japanese society.
As part of their fieldwork in this Global Research (Domestic) course, the students also learned about the challenges faced by Filipina Migrants in Japan through study sessions. This experience allowed them to gain more understanding of the community's experiences, contributing to a meaningful cultural exchange.
