KUISs Students Develop International Entrepreneurship Skills through Two-week Business Challenge

Japanese university education is often criticized for overemphasizing academic theory and ignoring real world issues. KUISs' educational approach is different. Although academic learning is considered important, the University also believes that students achieve the most meaningful learning when it is applied to actual problems.

Through a 5-year grant from the Japanese government and curricular support from Innovation Dojo Japan, KUISs students have been afforded a unique opportunity to cultivate entrepreneurial skills and solve real world business problems. Students do so by working on project teams with students from partner universities from the UK, Canada, Australia and India. Specifically, students learned to cooperate with each other to solve practical challenges be it either 1) a national pavilion at the Osaka Expo 2025 or 2) a Japanese company trying to enhance its presence overseas.

Besides being an invaluable educational and professional experience, it was also an enjoyable one! Students were able to make new friends and visit different locations around Awaji Island, Kobe and Kansai more generally. KUISs students also have the opportunity to enroll in a partner entrepreneurship program taught in Sydney, Australia during the fall.
