大学からのお知らせ

In this program students spent nine days conducting field research on themes related to criminal justice. The field research takes place in both Japan and in the United States. This time, students focused on themes related to juvenile crime, detention, and rehabilitation.

In order to gather information about these themes from the USA, students visited several places that work with juveniles in the Seattle area. Students visited the King County juvenile court and learned about programs that provide support, rehabilitation and conflict resolution. Students also visited the Seattle Police Department and the King County Court to learn about juvenile crimes and how juveniles are charged with crimes and prosecuted by the court. Students also visited the University of Washington Police Department and learned about how the police work with students and the community to keep the campus safe from criminals and threats to safety.

Students learned that organizations in Seattle use current research and data to create innovative programs that work toward not only keeping the community safe, but also providing support to keep juveniles from repeating offenses and keeping them out of the criminal justice system so that they can be productive members of society.

このプログラムでは、学生は刑事司法に関連するテーマについて9日間の実地調査を行いました。実地調査は日本とアメリカの両方で行われており、今回は少年犯罪、拘留、更生に関するテーマに焦点を当てました。

これらのテーマについてのアメリカでの情報を集めるために、学生たちはシアトル地域の未成年者と働くいくつかの場所を訪れました。生徒たちはキング郡の少年裁判所を訪れ、支援、回復、紛争解決を提供するプログラムについて学びました。学生はまた、少年犯罪とどのように少年が犯罪を起訴され、裁判所によって求刑されているかについて学ぶために、シアトル警察署およびキング郡裁判所を訪問しました。学生はまたワシントン大学の警察署を訪問し、犯罪者や安全に対する脅威からキャンパスの安全に保つために警察が学生や地域社会とどのように協力しているかについて学びました。

判明したことは、シアトルの機関、組織は、最新の研究とデータを使用して、非行少年の再犯防止に力を注ぐ革新的な活動を進めています。コミュニティを安全に保つだけでなく、非行少年が犯罪を繰り返すのを防ぎ、犯罪に巻き込まれないための支援をし、少年が地域社会に復帰できることを目的としています。
