NGUYEN VAN DUY

(Junior student at Department of Management, School of Management from Vietnam)

Since I pay all tuition by myself, the Asia-Pacific Scholarship has been extremely helpful. The scholarship covered 60% of my tuition as I passed JLPT N1 in my freshman year. Thanks to the scholarship, I can fully focus on my study without worrying about tuition. I passed Business Japanese Proficiency Test J2 and The Official Business Skills Test in Bookkeeping 3rd grade.

I have also been able to reduce my part-time job hours, and I have been working as a mentor and tutor at the university, helping first-year Japanese students and international students with their paper-writing skills. I also participated in an internship program which aimed to raise the popularity of the Shioe shopping district. I interviewed 10 stores in the shopping district and made a pitch. I was able to interact with people from a variety of industries, which helped me to see what I want to be in the future, and I became interested in the restaurant and hotel business. I am glad that I was able to interact with so many people and improve my Japanese language skills.

I would like to continue to work hard in my studies and also actively participate in extracurricular activities.

BATBAATAR KHONGORZUL

(Senior student at Department of English Communication, School of Global Communication from Mongolia)

When I came to Japan, I first went to a Japanese language school in Osaka. It was my teacher from Kobe who recommended me to enter Kansai University of International Studies. He told me there is a scholarship available from the time of enrollment. The availability of scholarships was a very important factor in my choice of school, and she enthusiastically recommended Kansai University of International Studies, so I decided to enter Kansai University of International Studies.

The Asia-Pacific Scholarship at Kansai University of International Studies waives 40% of tuition at the time of enrollment, but after that, the tuition reduction rate changes depending on one's grades. I have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher since my enrollment, therefore 50% of my tuition fees are covered by the scholarship, while the remaining 50% is paid by myself. The reduction rate increases by 10% for one year if you get JLPT N1. Therefore, 60% of my tuition was covered by the scholarship for my freshman year,

This created a very good cycle: the harder I studied, the more scholarship rate increased, which reduced the burden of tuition fees; and the reduced burden of tuition fees increased my motivation, which motivated me to work even harder. If I had not received the Asia-Pacific Scholarship, I would have had to work every day to earn my tuition, and I would have been so tired that I would have lost motivation to study. Thanks to Asia-Pacific Scholarship, I am able to focus on my study without working every day to earn my tuition.

If you are motivated to study, teachers here will encourage you to participate in various programs Kansai University of International Studies offers. I participated a short-term study abroad program in Australia with participation fee covered by the university, and I also participated in an international conference held in Kobe attended by students from overseas. I will cherish these experiences for the rest of my life.

I entered the university as recommended by my teacher at Japanese Language School, but I have never regretted my decision. I am very fulfilled every day with the various experiences I have had. I am now working hard to find a job.
