Hi, Everyone. My name is Izumi Kayama. Currently, I am having my Global Research study at Universiti Utara Malaysia. I am happy to tell you about my experiences in Malaysia. As Roy Bennet said, "Some things cannot be taught; they must be experienced. You never learn the most valuable lessons in life until you go through your own journey."

10/15(Sun)

I got on the plane. I had to change planes in Kuala Lumpur. I was alone, so I was very anxious. But I could arrive in AOR airport safely. I was met at the airport by a UUM student. They were very helpful. However, my room was not as good as I had imagined. Especially, the shower and toilet space is very close. When I experienced this, I wanted to go back to Japan. I wished tomorrow is good day.

10/16(Mon)

I started life in Malaysia. Today, I took medical check. I went to UUM's hospital.

I have not talked to a doctor in English. So, I was very nervous. However, UUM foreign country student supporter was particularly helpful. Also, I could make friends. They are kind. I had a joyful day!

10/17(Tue)

Today, I don't have classes. So, I saw monkeys near my accommodation. I was surprised. Also, I ate dinner with friends. I ate Nashi Goren. It tasted so-so.... Tomorrow, I will take my first class. I am nervous. I would like to understand the class.

10/18(Wed)

I took the first class. The class is "INTORODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION". I could not understand very much in class. This is because the English spoken by the teacher had an intonation I had never heard before. Also, she spoke so fast that I could not keep up with her. So, I was very tired, and I became anxious. However, UUM university students are very kind. They helped me. I thought I should study hard.

10/19(Thu)

It was another class day. The class is "INTORODUCTION TO TOURISM". This class was far from my room. Later, when I arrived at the classroom, a student approached me in the classroom. My classmates explained the class to me. After the class I ate lunch with my friends. That was the best Malaysian food I have ever tasted. Dinner was vegetable soup with my friends. It was spicy. Since I came to Malaysia, I have met new people every day. It's really fun.

10/20(Fri)

Friday was no school day. So, I went to Padang Besar with many friends. It is the border between Malaysia and Thailand. There I could see fruits and sweets that I had never seen in Japan. And I took Malaysian train. I could experience a lot of new things. I felt it was great day in Malaysia.

10/21(Sat)

Saturday was no school day. So, I went shopping and did laundry. In Japan, I lived with with my parents, so life was easy. I have recently been feeling the difficulty of living alone. I've wanted to meet my parents and my friends. I was homesick.

10/22(Sun)

In this university, school days off are Friday and Saturday. So, I had a class today, although it was Sunday. In this class, I introduced myself to classmates. The teacher and my classmates supported me. So, I could take this class with less anxiety.
